Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of diffierent barrier materials (Citodur Hard, Coltosol, Superbond D-liner II Plus, Comfort Bond) on the coronal leakage of bleaching materials. In this study, 50 extracted, caries free human maxillary canine teeth were used. After endodontic access cavities were filled with gutta-percha and AH Plus root canal sealer using lateral condensation technique. Samples were divided into 5 groups. In group 1 (control group), no barrier material was placed. In group 2, Citodur Hard and in group 3, Coltosol was placed as a barrier mate rial following removing the root canal filling 2 mm. apicallyfrom the cemento-enamel junction. In group 4, Superbond D-liner II Plus and in group 5, Comfort Bond was placed as a barrier material on the base of the pulp chamber as athin layer without removing the root canal filling. 30% H2O2 was mixed with sodium perborate trihidrate and this paste used as the bleaching material which was mixed with Aldan blue and placed into the pulp chambers of teeth and the access cavities were sealed with coltosol. The specimens were kept in % 100 humidity in 37°C for 72 hours and after the teeth ' were horizontally sectioned, leakage was evaluated under stereomicroscope. According to the statistical results, the difference . between groups 2 and 3 was not statisticallysignificant(p>0.05) and also the difference betweengroups 4 and 5 was not statistically -significant (p>0.05j.. The difference between groups^ 2, 3 and 4, 5 was statistically significant (p
