Abstract
In Turkey, establishing of juniper (Juniperus) forests is extremely difficult. The germination obstacle of the breed brings about number cost- and time-related difficulties in plantation of junipers. However, the current usage areas of the plant are of great importance in terms of overcoming this situation in a qualified way and making use of junipers more effectively. In line with the studies in the literature, it is noteworthy that juniper cone is used medically in the treatment of heart diseases and rheumatism. At the same time, there are some species (Juniperus oxycedrus, J. communis, and J. drupacea) that have local uses among the people. Therefore, starting from the purpose of juniper seeds in Turkey, General Directorate of Forestry, Wood Products and Services Non-economic aspects of the contribution of the Department examined data between 1989-2017 years it was assessed the current situation. Isparta Regional Directorate of Forestry in 2000 as the first in recorded revenue of 67.320 TL and 16.830 kg of harvest in Turkey. Later, juniper seed was harvested from Balıkesir, Kahramanmaraş, Kütahya and Eskişehir Regional Directorates of Forestry. Türkiye’de ardıç (Juniperus) ormanları kurmak oldukça zor bir uygulamadır. Cinsin sahip olduğu çimlenme engeli ardıçlarla ilgili pek çok işlemi, maliyet ve zaman açısından daha güç hale getirmektedir. Ancak bitkinin mevcut kullanım alanları, bu durumun nitelikli biçimde aşılıp ardıçların daha etkin halde değerlendirilmesi konusunda oldukça büyük önem taşımaktadır. Literatürde yer alan çalışmalar doğrultusunda ardıç kozalağından özellikle kalp hastalıkları ve romatizma tedavisinde tıbbi yönden yararlanıldığı dikkat çekmektedir. Aynı zamanda halk arasında yöresel kullanımlara sahip türleri (Juniperus drupacea, J. oxycedrus ve J. communis) bulunmaktadır. Bu nedenle ardıç kozalağının Türkiye’deki bu kullanım amaçlarından yola çıkarak Orman Genel Müdürlüğü, Odun Dışı Ürün ve Hizmetler Daire Başkanlığının 1989-2017 yılları arasındaki verileri incelenip ekonomik yönden katkısının mevcut durumu değerlendirilmiştir. Türkiye’de ilk olarak 2000 yılında Isparta Orman Bölge Müdürlüğünde 16.830 kg hasat ve 67.320 TL gelir kaydedilmiştir. Daha sonra Balıkesir, Kahramanmaraş, Kütahya ve Eskişehir Orman Bölge Müdürlüklerinden de ardıç kozalağı hasadı gerçekleştirilmiştir. Ardıçların Türkiye coğrafyasında sürdürülebilir yöntemlerle yeterince değerlendirilebilmesi için daha tutarlı kayıtların tutulması ve etkin bir pazarın oluşturulması yerinde olacaktır.
