Abstract
Emotional intelligence which does not fall from the current in recent years has been tackled asdeterminant of success in personal and professional life. The concept of emotional intelligence is also importantin nursing practices where communication and problem solving come to the fore. Research was designeddescriptive in order to determine the levels of emotional intelligence and affecting factors of nurses employee inan education hospital. In this study, data were obtained by information form developed by researchers in thelight of the literature and by “Emotional Intelligence Evaluation Scale” developed by Hall Total 209 nursesemplıyee in an education hospital constituted the population and sample of this study. 54.5% of targeted group(114 nurses) was reached. Obtained data were evaluated by using percentage, average, t-test, variance analysis(ANOVA), Kruskall Wallis, Mann Whitney U and Ki-square tests and it was founded that emotional intelligencelevels of the nurses’ were affected by some socio-demographic characteristics such as age, sex, income and thetraining received. In the line of these results, the organize of in-service training programs within hospitals inorder to develop the levels of emotional intelligence of nurses are recommended.

Son yıllarda gündemden düşmeyen duygusal zeka, bireysel ve mesleki yaşamda başarının belirleyicisiolarak ele alınmaktadır. İletişim ve problem çözmenin ön plana çıktığı hemşirelik uygulamalarında duygusalzeka kavramı ayrıca önem kazanmaktadır. Araştırma, bir eğitim hastanesinde çalışan hemşirelerin duygusalzeka düzeylerini ve etkileyen faktörleri belirlemek amacıyla tanımlayıcı nitelikte planlanmıştır. Araştırmadaveriler, araştırmacılar tarafından literatür ışığında geliştirilen bilgi formu ve Hall (1999) tarafından geliştirilen“Duygusal Zeka Değerlendirme Ölçeği” ile elde edilmiştir. Araştırmanın evren ve örneklemini bir eğitimhastanesinde çalışan toplam 209 hemşire oluşturmuştur. Hedeflenen grubun % 54.5 (114 hemşire)’ineulaşılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler, yüzdeleme, ortalama, t-testi, varyans analizi (ANOVA), Kruskall Wallis, MannWhitney U ve Ki-kare testleri kullanılarak değerlendirilmiş, hemşirelerin duygusal zeka düzeylerinin yaş,cinsiyet, maddi durum gibi bazı sosyo-demografik özelliklerden ve alınan eğitimden etkilendiği bulunmuştur. Busonuçlar doğrultusunda; hemşirelerin duygusal zeka düzeylerini geliştirmeleri amacıyla hastane bünyesindehizmet içi eğitim programlarının düzenlenmesi önerilmektedir.
