Abstract

Combustible properties of treated douglas wood specimens and fire-retardancy of some preservatives were tested in this study. Crib test of ASTM E 160-150 was followed. Results indicated that, aqueous solutions of boric acid (BA), borax (Bx) (Na2BO7 10H2O) or BA + Bx mixture (7: 3, w: w) had fire retardant efficacy (FRE) over untreated wood and reduced the combustibility of vinil monomers (Styrene and methylmetacrylate) which were applied as secondary treatment.

Özet

Odunun biyotik ve abiyotik zararlılarına karşı korunması amacıyla kullanıma konu oluşturan çeşitli emprenye maddelerinin duglas odununda yanma özelliklerini ne ölçüde etkilediği bu çalışmada ele alınmıştır. Sonuçlar, borlu bileşiklerin sulu çözeltilerinin önemli derecede yanmayı önleyici etki (YÖE) gösterdiğini, polietilenglikol (PEG)- 400'de çözündürülen borik asit + boraks (BA + Bx)'ın (7: 3, ağırlık: ağırlık) YÖE'de bulunmadığını ortaya koymuştur. Yanmayı artırıcı etkileri bilinen çeşitli su itici maddelerin (SİM) ise borlu bileşiklerle emprenyeli oduna ikinci bir işlem olarak uygulanmaları durumunda yanmada oluşturdukları olumsuz etki azaltılabilmiştir. Öte yandan BA ve Bx'ın YÖE'leri bu maddelerin karışım halinde birlikte kullanılmaları durumunda iyileşmektedir. Borlu bileşiklerin çeşitli yanma özellikleri bakımından fosforik asit (FA), monoamonyum fosfat (MAP) ve Pyresote (Pyr) ile rekabet edebilecek nitelikte olduğu gözlenmiştir.
