Abstract

The study reveals the benefits of salat (prayer) and nutrition practices in Islam and evaluates their positive effects against obesity, which is rapidly increasing today. This research aims to determine the effects of salat (prayer) and nutrition practices against obesity in Islam. The method of the research: The study is prepared as a compilation article by scanning the required literature. The world obesity map announced by the World Health Organization (WHO) is used. The study includes statistical percentages in the tables. According to WHO, obesity is very closely related to the living habits of human beings. The most important factor affecting obesity is less movement and high caloric intake during the day. The obesity rates of Muslim countries are higher than in other countries. Especially, obesity rates of women in Muslim countries are approaching 40% according to the population of the country. The religious rules determine the way of life, as well as, limits of people. There are verses in the Qur’an and hadiths of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) about how the way of life should be in Islam. If the person does not have any illness due to genetic reasons, it is thought that he is less likely to get obese as long as he/she obeys the verses and hadiths.

Muhammed (sav)’in hadisi şerifleri bulunmaktadır.
