Abstract

A 49-year-old female patient with hypertension was admittedwith an intraabdominal murmur and referred for multidetectorcomputed tomography angiography for suspected renal arterystenosis. Her medical history, clinical examination, serumbiochemistry, and ultrasound examination findings showedno pathological findings of diabetes mellitus or any otherdisease. Axial and coronal reformatted multidetector computedtomography angiography revealed a dilated accessory polar renalvein which drained the venous circulation of the left lower poleinto the inferior vena cava at midline. In conclusion, multidetectorcomputed tomography angiography plays a progressivelysubstantial role in the assessment of renal vascularity. Vascularsurgeons and urologists should be a thorough knowledge of renalvascular variations.
