Abstract

Crista terminalis (CT) is a normal anatomic formation in the right atrium (RA). Prominent CTcan vary greatly in adults, because it is a variation of septum spurium regression process. Thereis no enough study assessed by transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) on its frequency andfeature. When CT sometimes can be more prominent than usual, it may be confused with a RAmass. Computerized tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and three-dimensional TTE canbe used to distinguish a prominent CT from a real mass. However, detailed knowledge of theanatomy of RA is enough to make a correct diagnosis and to avoid unnecessary additional tests
