Abstract

Castleman's disease is characterised by nonmalignant enlargement of lymph nodes. It locates most frequently in the mediastinum and may be at any location where lymph nodes exist. It has three histopathological types as hyaline vascular, plas-ma cell and mixed type. Two clinical presentations are as localised and multicentric disease. Noninvasive examination methods are frequently insufficent for diagnosis. Surgical resection is the recommended therapeutic approach in the localised clinical form, whereas cytotoxic chemotherapy, radiotherapy and steroids are pointed out to be benefical in the multicentric type. In this case report a surgically resected abdominal Castleman's disease, located in the minor omentum is reviewed with the pertinent literature.
