Abstract

Caroli's disease is characterized by congenital cystic dilatations of the intrahepatic bile ducts. The mode of inheritance of Caroli's disease is generally considered as autosomal recessive trait. Two familial cases, (a father and son) of Caroli's disease are presented, which suggest an autosomal dominant trait. Sphincterotomy was performed and ursodeoxycholic acid prescribed to these patients. The use of ursodeoxycholic acid is recommended in this patient group.
