Abstract
In this study cadmium and lead levels in tab and in spring waters of Ankara are determined. Lead levels in tap and in spring waters are found as 0.00-0.45 mg/lt and 0.00-0.046 mg/lt respectively. Where as average cadmium levels are as 1.6 mg/lt in tap and 2.4 mg/lt in spring waters. The effects of heavy metals on health, especially of lead on infant children are discussed with the support of recent articles on the subject.

Bu araştırmada Ankara’da içilen çeşme ve kaynak sularının kurşun ve kadmiyum miktarları saptanmıştır. Kurşun miktarları çeşme sularında 0.00-0.45 mg/lt, kaynak sularında 0.00-0.046 mg/lt olarak bulunmuştur. Kadmiyum miktarları ise, çeşme sularında ortalama 1.6 mg/lt ve kaynak sularında 2.4 mg/lt dir. Literatür bilgisine dayalı olarak bu ağır metallerin sağlığa ve özellikle kurşunun bebek ve çocuk sağlığına zararlı etkileri tartışılmıştır.
