Objective & Hypothesis:Olives (Olea europea L.) from Turkish cultivars Saurani, Nizip Yaglik, Egriburun, Gemlik and Izmir Sofralik were collected separately and divided into two different groups (sound 0% and damage 100 %) according to the presence or absence of infestation by the olive fruit fly (Bactrocera olea Gml.).The cis –trans fatty acid isomers of the oils obtained from sound and olive fly damage olives were analysed by a GC capillary column method.
📊
Key Findings & Data:The statistical results obtained from fatty acid analysis showed that the olive fly infestation did not generally cause significant changes in the fatty acid composition in spite of the variation noted in the MUFA / PUFA ratio.
