Abstract

Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL) are classified as nodal and extranodal lymphoma according to their primary site of origin. The incidence of extranodal lymphoma varies between 24-48% in different series. Between January 1994 to December 2001, 174 NHL patients diagnosed and treated at the Department of Internal Medicine in Ankara Numune Education and Research Hospital were evaluated retrospectively according to their clinicopathological features. Sixty five (37.4%) of these patients were of extranodal origin. The most common site of extranodal lymphoma was gastrointestinal system (44.6%). The clinicopathological features of nodal and extranodal lymphomas were compared in this study. In nodal group B symptoms, bulky disease and bone marrow infiltration were statistically higher compared with extranodal group (p<0,05). The difference can be explained by the late onset of symptoms of advanced stage disease in patients with nodal lymphoma and by the late admission of those patients.

Hastaların 65'i (% 37.4) primer ekstranodal başlangıçlıydı.
