Abstract

Aretained surgical sponge (gossypiboma, textiloma) is a rare complication of surgery. Radiological appearances of textilomas change according to the type of the reaction they cause in the body. Patients are usually asymptomatic for a long time after the operation. Most reports in the literature relate to the US and CT appearances of textilomas in the abdomen. However, there are a few reports describing findings of intrathoracic textilomas. We report the radiologic findings of intrathoracic textilomas in three cases.

Özet

Gossipibom veya tekstilom, ameliyat sırasında vücut içinde unutulmuş cerrahi gazlı bez ve çevresindeki yabancı cisim reaksiyonunu tanımlar (1-7). Cerrahinin nadir bir komplikasyonudur. Radyolog sıklıkla problem ile karşılaşan ilk kişi olmasına rağmen, gossipibom daha önce cerrahi öyküsü olan hastalarda bile çoğunlukla kitlelerin ayırıcı tanısında yer almaz. Gossipibom ölümcül komplikasyonlara yol açabilir (8). Bu nedenle, radyolojik incelemelerde yabancı cismi tanımak önemlidir. Literatürde abdomende unutulmuş cerrahi gazlı bezleri tanımlayan çeşitli yayınlar vardır (1-8). Fakat intratorasik olanlarla ilgili yayınlar az sayıdadır (8-10). Bu yazıda üç olguda intratorasik gossipibomların radyolojik bulgularını sunuyoruz.
