Abstract

In this study, we test relationship between monthly industrial production index and credit default swaps for BRICS+T countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa+ Turkey) over the period of January, 2016-October, 2020. In order to test the causality relationship between these two variables, we used the Kónya (2006) bootstrap Granger causality test. The panel data for this test must provide both cross-sectional dependency and slope heterogeneity. According to the results of the study, there is a causality relationship from credit default swaps to industrial production index for Russia and China. On the other hand, there are causality relationships from industrial production index to credit default swaps for Turkey, Brazil, Russia, India and China
