Abstract

Objectives: We assessed the effect of linear polarized polychromatic light on wound healing in rats. Methods: The study included 10 Sprague-Dawley rats (mean age 6 months; mean weight 220 g). Two rats were excluded because of mortality by anesthesia-induced complications. Under general anesthesia, two surgical wounds were induced on the back of the rats, being 1.5 cm in diameter and localized proximally and 5-10 cm distally, respectively. Proximal wounds were treated with bioptron therapy for four minutes plus physiologic saline solution once a day, while distal wounds were treated with only physiologic saline solution. The duration of wound healing was determined by inspection and compared between the two treatment groups. Results: The mean healing periods of wounds treated with and without bioptron therapy were 15 days (range 14-16 days) and 25.1 days (range 24-26 days), respectively (p<0.05). No complications were observed throughout the treatment. Conclusion: Treatment with linear polarized polychromatic light seems to accelerate wound healing process.

Özet

Amaç: Bu çalışmada lineer polarize polikromatik ışığın sıçanlarda yara iyileşmesini hızlandırıcı etkisi araştırıldı. Çalışma planı: Bu çalışmada yaş ortalaması 6 ay, ortalama ağırlığı 220 gram olan Sprague-Dawley tipi 10 adet sıçan kullanıldı. İki sıçan anestezi komplikasyonları sonucu öldükleri için değerlendirmeye alınmadı. Genel anestezi altında sıçanların sırtlarında orta hatta, biri proksimalde, diğeri 10 cm distalde ve çapları 1.5 cm olan iki adet yara açıldı. Proksimalde yer alan yaraların tedavisinde günde bir kere olmak üzere 4 dakikalık bioptron tedavisi ve serum fizyolojik (SF) pansuman; distaldeki kontrol yaraların tedavisinde sadece serum fizyolojik pansuman uygulandı. Her iki uygulama grubunda ortalama iyileşme (kapanma) süreleri inspeksiyonla belirlendi ve karşılaştırıldı. Sonuçlar: Bioptron uygulaması yapılan proksimal yaraların ortalama kapanma süresi 15 gün (dağılım 14-16 gün); sadece SF pansuman uygulanan distaldeki yaraların ortalama kapanma süresi 25.1 gün (dağılım 24-26 gün) bulundu.
