Abstract

Many chemotherapeutic agents are defined with theirneurotoxic effects. And also, the peripheral nerveentrapments are one of the major disorders in theneurosurgery clinics and cause of neuropathy. Theaim of both neurotoxicity and nerve entrapment?surgent treatment protocol is full recovery but thetreatment modalities are different. Case description: Inthis report, the authors present rare case of a peronealnerve entrapment as a complication ofchemotherapeutic agents induced weight loss. A61-year old male patient with pancreasadenocarsinoma and multiple liver metastasespresented with right foot drop. A clinical diagnosis ofperoneal nerve entrapment was confirmed byelectrophysiological study. He underwent urgentdecompressive surgery for common peroneal nerve. Agood neurological recovery was achieved onpostoperative 1st day and he was neurologically intactat the postoperative 6th month. Conclusion: Webelieve that it is important to decide surgery for thetreatment of a neuropathy irrespective of the etiologyso; the differential diagnosis must have been doneproperly.
