Abstract

Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGB) isbeing increasingly performed for obesity. Internalherniation is one of the most important LRYGBPsurgery complication seen 0.2–5% of the cases.In9.1% of the cases the herniation will lead to ischemiaand perforation, with a mortality rate of 1.6%.Therapid weight loss in the child baring age woman leadsto; the increase in libido and fertility thus increasingthe chance of a pregnancy cases. With the internalherniation leading to ischemia and perforation, maternal and fetal mortalities are reported in theliterature. Here we present a case of maternal and fetaldeath due to internal herniation after LRYGB surgery
