Abstract

Paranasal sinus pyoceles usually occur in the frontal sinuses and are rarely encountered in children. Those originating from the concha bullosa of the middle turbinate are extremely rare. We present an eight-year-old girl in whom a pyocele was encountered, originating from the concha bullosa of the middle turbinate and the ethmoidal region. Destruction of the ethmoidal air cells and lamina papyracea was observed, with extension to the orbit. The patient was treated with endoscopic surgical drainage. There was no evidence of recurrence at the end of three-month follow-up.
