Abstract

Objective: In this study; patients with congenital breast abnormality has been retrospectively examined. Our clinical approach algorithm is aimed to be presented with implemented operations in terms of scan results for additional abnormalities.Material and Method: 26 patients have been included to this study operated for congenital breats abnormality between August 2010-July 2014. Detailed patient history, physical examination findings, complete urine analysis renal ultrasound screening and urine culture have been examined in the sense of concomitant nephrourinary abnormalities. Results of hormonal tests devoted to related systems have been evaluated for the patients with physical examination findings or endocrinologic complaints. Results: Positive family history has been determined in 7.7% of the included patients (n=2). Among patients who had sporadic accessory nipple, in two patients; one with polythelia and the other with polymastia, concomittant unilateraly renal agenesia were detected and patients were referred to nephrology for further examination. Euthyroid multi-nodular goitre has been determined in 3.8% of the patients. Conclusion: Detailed family history should be questioned for the patients with congenital breast abnormality and concomitant nephrourinary or endocrinologic abnormalities, detailed physical examination should be conducted. Additionally patients are required to be scanned with laboratory and screening methods for detection of any possible additional abnormalities.
