Abstract

This study is concerned with the microthermometric studies performed on fluid inclusions of gangue minerais from the Küçükdere (Havran - Balıkesir) gold deposit which was classified as andesite vein breccia, vein breccia, banded vein and massive carbonate on the basis of textural specifications. Fluid inclusion studies were performed on quartz and calcite crystals and only primary inclusions were measured. These inclusions are of two phase containing liquid and gas, Homogenization temperatures were measured as 174-271 " C in andesite vein breccia, 171-250° C in vein breccia, 187-297° C in banded vein and 186-304° C in massive carbonates. The freezing study shows, respectively, %1.8-5.8 (NaCI), %3.8-5.5 (NaCI), %1.8-5.7 (NaCI) ve %3.8-6.4 (NaCI) equvilant salinity in these types of gold veins. The low salinity data (%1.8-6.4 NaCI) and 171-304° C temperature determined in the Küçükdere gold deposit show the characteristics of adularia sericite type gold deposit (low temperature condi-tions). This, in turn, suggests the precipitation of gold from the meteoric ground water of the near surface environment.
