Abstract

Methemoglobinemia is a serious hematological disorder, that can be hereditary or acquired. A lot of causes have been reported, such as use of drugs and chemicals. Prilocaine is one of them. This is a commonly used local anesthetic agent. We report a newborn who became methemoglobinemia after use of prilocaine and recover with intravenous ascorbic acid treatment.
