Abstract

40-70% of the ICU patients are experiencing pain. Since pain increases the risk of morbidity and mortality, an efficient pain management should be employed to the critical ICU patients. Pain management aims to minimize or annihilate the discomfort feeling stemming from the disease, to decrease the time patient spends in hospital, and to prevent the repeating complaints about pain. ICU nurses have remarkable and key roles in pain management. In order for an efficient pain management, reliability and validity proven pain and sedation assessment scales that enable patient's response to treatment and that are easily applicable should be used. The efficiency of the treatments should be assessed and these courses should be recorded and shared with team.

Özet

Yoğun Bakım (YB) hastalarının %40-70'i ağrı çekmektedir.
