Abstract

In this study, regional income disparities have been examined in terms of regional income by using statistical methods as Weighted-Unweighted Coefficient of Variation, Relative Mean Deviation, Maximum Minimum Ratio and Income-Population Ratio with respect to geographic definition. It has been brought regional income disparity up in this study which covered 1965 2001 period and attempted to catch up variations of this disparity in the course of time. It has been discussed level of regional disparity in Turkey by comparing values obtained from foreign countries. Consequently, it has been determined that level of Turkey's regional disparity is higher than Developed Countries but lower than Developing Countries. Furthermore, it has been found out that regional income disparity tends to increase until the end of 1980's, but tends to decrease in 1990's.
