Abstract

Geographic Information System is a collection of computer hardware, software, and geographic data for capturing, storing, updating, manipulating, analyzing, and displaying all forms of geographically referenced information. As parallel to developments in information technology, surface models can be readily created as 3-dimension form by GIS hardware and software. In this study, it was tried to create different surface models through GIS in storing and displaying of topographical data for Bursa-Mustafakemalpaşa Irrigation Project Area, and to deal with use possibilities of these models, for determination of the topographical condition of Bursa- Mustafakemalpaşa Irrigation Project. As a result of study, it was found out that irrigation may cause surface runoff and waterlogging so that irrigation-induced problem areas may be created at the project area. To avoid that kind of problems, detailed topographical analyses should be carried out.
