Abstract

Metaplastic breast carcinoma accounts for less than 1% of breast malignancies. Huvos et al. first introduced the term metaplastic carcinoma in 1974. It is usually seen together with poorly differentiated ductal carcinoma of the breast. Within its mesenchymal components, undifferentiated connective tissue cells, fibroblasts, osteoblasts and chondroblasts can be found. Metaplastic breast carcinoma is an aggressive disease with a poor prognosis. In this re- port, a case of a 45-year-old female patient who underwent segmental mastectomy with a diagnosis of metaplastic carcinoma of the breast is presented

Özet

Memenin metaplastik karsinomu, tüm malign meme lezyonlarının %1'inden azını oluşturur. Metaplastik meme karsinomu terimi ilk kez Huvos ve arkadaşları tarafından 1974 yılında kullanılmıştır. Sıklıkla kötü diferansiye duktal karsinomlarla birlikte görülür. Mezenkimal komponentlerde ise, andiferansiye bağ doku hücrelerinden fibroblast, kondroblast veya osteoblast hücrelerine kadar değişebilen özellikte elemanlar bulunabilir. Diğer meme kanserleri- ne göre daha kötü prognozlu ve agresif seyirlidir. Bu yazıda segmental mastektomi uygulanan 45 yaşında bir kadın hastada, memenin metaplastik karsinom olgusu sunulmuştur
