Abstract
The probability of maxillofacial bone fractures in children ts less than that of adults. Mandibula is one of the most effected sites in children. The treatment of mandibulaıffractureş} in children shows some variations than that of adults. The treatment chosen for these patients should neither be harmful for the germs-of the permanent teeth nor the development of the jaws.In this study, 7 mandibular fracture cas&s aging between 6-12 is presented. The treatment was carried on by Gunning type splint. Age, sex, etiologies of the patients weref evaluated and other treatment alternatives were discussed.Cases treated with Gunning type splint showed good toleration for the splints and healing without complications was observed in the cases. Therefore, we believe that treatment of mandibular fractures in children by splint application would be a reasonable treatment choice. .

Çocuklarda maksillofasiyal kemiklerin kırılma şıklığı yetişkinlere göre dalya azdır. Mandibula en sık etkilenen bölgelerin başında gelmektedir. Çocuklarda mandibula fraktürierinin tedavileri yetişkinlere göre bazı farklılıklar göstermektedir. Bu hastalarda uygulanan tedavinin daimi diş gemilerini zedelememesi ve çocuğun çene gelişimini etkilememesi gereklidir. Bu olgu sunusunda, yaşları 6-12 arasında değişen 7 mandibula kırığı olgusu sunulmuştur. Olgular Gunning tip splint ile tedavi edilmişlerdir. Hastaların yaş, cinsiyet, etyolojileri değerlendirilmiş ve diğer tedavi seçenekleri tartışılmıştır. Gunning tip splint ile tedavi edilen hastaların splintleri iyi tolere ettikleri ve komplikaşyonsuz iyileşmenin sağlandığı görülınüştür.Bu yaş grubu hastalarda splint uygulamasının iyi bir tedavi seçeneği olabileceği düşünülmektedir.
