Abstract

Extramedullary plasmacytom (EMP) is an uncommon neoplastic disorder arising from B-cell series lymphocytes and comprises 3% of plasma cell neoplasms. Ninety percent of the cases are encountered in the head and neck region. In the present case, an EMP involving the maxillary sinus was reported in a 26 years old woman presenting with epistaxis complaint. EMP should be included in the differential diagnosis in patients with history of epistaxis.

Özet

Ekstramedüller plazmositom (EMP), B lenfositlerden köken alan malign bir hastalıktır ve plazma hücre tümörlerinin yaklaşık %3‘ünü oluşturan nadir bir hastalıktır. Yaklaşık %90 oranında baş ve boyun bölgesinde ortaya çıkmaktadır. Bu olguda epistaksis ile başvuran 26 yaşında bayan hastada maksiller sinüs tutulumu ile seyreden EMP olgusu bildirilmiştir. Epistaksis ile başvuran hastaların ayırıcı tanısında nadir bir sebep de olsa EMP akılda tutulmalıdır.
