Abstract

The cardiovascular involvement is the major cause of mortality in the scorpion envenomation. Cardiac enzymes should be measured if patients with scorpion envenoming have symptoms related to cardiovascular system accompanied with local pain. Serum level of troponin I is a highly specific for the myocardial injury. It may be allow early establishing of the cardiac involvement and starting to treatment. The using of troponin I as a follow-up criterion in the scorpion envenoming with cardiac involvement may be prevent from events that will occur later. We presented a 7-year-old boy with scorpion envenoming.

Özet

Akrep zehirlenmesinde ölümlerin esas nedeni kardiyovasküler tutulumdur. Akrep zehirlenmesiyle başvuran hastalarda lokal ağrı ile birlikte kardiyovasküler sistemle ilgili semptom varsa kardiyak enzimlerine bakılmalıdır. Serum troponin I düzeyinin saptanması miyokard hasarına daha spesifiktir.
