Abstract

We present a case of 5 year old, male patient who was operated for the nearly complete obstruction at the distal end of the trachea that was diagnosed at the rigid bronchoscopy. The obstruction was let the respiration only from the membranous part. Following the anaesthesia induction, the patient was entubated with a cuffed number 5 endotracheal tube and it was settled just after the tube pass through the cord vocales without pushing further. Left main branch entubation with a number 4 spiral tube was done after the right thoracotomy by the incision to the 1 cm proximal to the carina. One lung ventilation was performed by the 2nd endobronchial tube connection to the anaesthesia line and the first tube was disconnected from the ventilator. The lesion that causes the obstruction was explored, resected, and end to end anastomosed. At this time the second endobronchial tube was taken off and the ventilation was continued with the first tube. At the end of the operation the patient was taken to the intensive care unit. There was not any surgical complication or relapse recognised during the repeated control biopsies.
