Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the precision and usability of the boundary element method and higher order formulations. For that purpose 3 computer programs were developed which use constant, linear and quadratic element formulations. The first program which uses the constant element formulation is similar to the computer program developed by S. L. Crouch (1983). By using the mentioned programs three problems were solved and compared with analytical and finite elements solutions. For the finite element solutions the commercially available general purpose program SAP2000 was used.
