Abstract

When contacting surfaces have a relative motion, applied normal and tangential forces cause some stresses on surfaces and subsurfaces. If these forces are applied continuously, cause propagation of crack which is in subsurface. In this study, propagation of subsurface cracks is investigated owing to tangential friction forces. Calculations was carried out for different crack lengths and different friction coefficients. Besides were investigated with respect to relative location of applied force.
