Abstract

Among Turkish coasts, Izmir Bay is the most studied one for ichthyoplankton (investigations on fish larvae). The first detailed study begun in 1974 with a number of studies on going currently. The present study reviewed the studies conducted between 1974 and 2005 especially for species diversity. The species determined were investigated for the periods of egg, pre-larva and post-larva and length status according to location on different parts of Izmir Bay; thus, overall species diversity and distribution of the species according to location on Izmir Bay were established. Eggs, pre-larvae and post-larvae of 186 (taxa, family and species) belonging to 15 orders were sampled from Izmir Bay between 1974 and 2005; 2 taxa, 7 family, 17 genera, 144 species (total 170) were firstly recorded. İzmir Bay’s ıchthyoplankton has been represented 48 families; Anguilliformes (Congridae, Nettastomiidae), Clupeiformes (Clupeidae, Engraulidae), Stomiiformes (Sternoptychidae, Photichthyidae, Stomiidae, Synodontidae), Aulophiformes (Paralepididae), Myctophiformes (Myctophidae), Lampridiformes (Regalecidae, Merlucciidae, Gadidae, Ophidiiformes (Ophiididae, Carapidae), Lophiiformes (Lophiidae), Atheriniformes (Atherinidae),Cyprinodontiformes (Belonidae), Syngnathiformes (Syngnathidae), Scorpaeniformes (Scorpaenidae, Triglidae), Percomorphı (Moronidae, Serranidae, Carangidae, Pomatomidae, Coryphaenidae, Sparidae, Centracanthidae, Sciaenidae, Mullidae, Cepolidae, Mugilidae, Labridae, Ammodytidae, Trachinidae, Uranoscopidae, Tripterygiidae, Blenniidae, Callionymidae, Gobiidae, Sphyraenidae, Trichiuridae, Scombridae, Centrolophidae, Pleuronectiformes (Scophthalmidae, Bothidae, Pleuronectidae, Soleidae). The species have been identified in Inner Bay (6 taxa, 19 family), Middle Bay (8 taxa, 25 family), Outer Bay I (8 taxa, 30 family), Outer Bay II (8 taxa, 30 family), Outer Bay III (11 taxa, 39 family).

İzmir Körfezi ihtiyoplanktonu 48 familya ile temsil edilmiştir; Anguilliformes (Congridae, Nettastomiidae), Clupeiformes (Clupeidae, Engraulidae), Stomiiformes (Sternoptychidae, Photichthyidae, Stomiidae, Synodontidae), Aulophiformes (Paralepididae), Myctophiformes (Myctophidae), Lampridiformes (Regalecidae, Merlucciidae, Gadidae), Ophidiiformes (Ophiididae, Carapidae), Lophiiformes (Lophiidae), Atheriniformes (Atherinidae),Cyprinodontiformes (Belonidae), Syngnathiformes (Syngnathidae), Scorpaeniformes (Scorpaenidae, Triglidae), Percomorphı (Moronidae, Serranidae, Carangidae, Pomatomidae, Coryphaenidae, Sparidae, Centracanthidae, Sciaenidae, Mullidae, Cepolidae, Mugilidae, Labridae, Ammodytidae, Trachinidae, Uranoscopidae, Tripterygiidae, Blenniidae, Callionymidae, Gobiidae, Sphyraenidae, Trichiuridae, Scombridae, Centrolophidae, Pleuronectiformes (Scophthalmidae, Bothidae, Pleuronectidae, Soleidae). İç Körfez (6 ordo, 19 familya), Orta Körfez (8 ordo, 25 familya), Dış Körfez I (8 ordo, 30 familya), Dış Körfez II (8 ordo, 30 familya), Dış Körfez III’de (11 ordo, 39 familya)’ya ait türler belirlenmiştir
