Abstract

The reproduction period of mullet species living in Güllük Lagoon (Aegean Sea). In this investigation, it has been aimed to determine the reproduction period of mullet species inhabiting in Güllük Lagoon (Aegean Sea) which has great economic importance from the points of fisheries among the other four lagoon, and also to support the sustainability of lagoon by the data obtained from this research. The mullet specimens were collected in a year period and checked as species than gonadosomatic index were estimated ( as %GSI) and determined their statistical importance. Four species of mullets were found in the lagoon and the order as their abundance were Mugil cephalus (Linneaus, 1758), Liza ramada (Risso, 1826), Chelon labrosus (Risso, 1826) and Liza saliens (Risso, 1810). The reproduction period were estimated by checking the maximum GSI and gonad size. The varians analysis of monthly data of GSI were statistically significant. According to the results, the reproduction period of M.cephalus, L.ramada, C.labrosus, and L. saliens were determined as september, december, november and July respectively. Our results were similar to the results obtained the other researches carried on the near vicinities. However, it may change as early or late periods in diffrent geographical regions with different environmental conditions.

Özet

Bu çalışma ülkemizde balıkçılık açısından ekonomik önemi olan başlıca dört lagün arasında yer alan Güllük Lagünü'ne ait kefal balığı türlerinin üreme zamanlarını tespit etmek ve bulunan değerlerin kefal balıkçılığının sürdürülebilir olmasına katkıda bulunması amacıyla yapılmıştır. Bir yıl boyunca her ay yakalanan kefal örnekleri türlerine ayrılarak gonado somatik indeks (%GSI) değerleri hesaplanarak istatistiki açıdan önemi test edilmiştir.
