Abstract
Although malignant melanomas of the nasal cavity are very rare they spread aggressively. The patient usually dies from systemic spread within two years. Together with early diagnosis, extensive surgical resection followed by radiotherapy or chemotherapy may increase the survival. However, be¬sides the original mass of the tumor, mucosal multifocal spread may some¬times pose difficulty in determining the extent of surgical resection. In this case report, we describe the multifocal involvement of the tumor, dif¬ficulties encountered in the treatment and different therapeutic methods used in malignant melanoma, together with a literature review.
Özet
Nazal kavitede oldukça nadir görülen malign melanoma son derece agresiv seyirlidir. Hastalar genellikle iki yıl içinde sistemik yayılımla hayatlarını kaybederler. Erken tanı ile birlikte geniş cerrahi eksizyon ve radyoterapi ya da kemoterapi kür şansını arttırabilir. Ancak tümörün asıl kitlesinin dı¬şında, mukozada multif okal yaydım olma olasılığı, uygulanacak cerrahinin sınırlarının belirlenmesinde güçlük yaratır. Sunduğumuz olgumuzda da tümörün multifokal yayılımını, bunun tedavide yarattığı güçlükleri ve ge¬nel olarak malign melanomada uygulanan tedavi şekillerini, literatürü in¬celeyerek ele aldık.
