Abstract

Nocardiosis is an uncommon opportunistic infection which particularly seen in immunosuppressed patients, although approximately one-third of infected patients are immunocompetent. It has a broad range of clinical presentations and may present similarly to several other infections and malignancies. The diagnosis can be challenging due to the lack of pathognomonic signs, symptoms, and radiological findings. Herein, we report a rare case of pulmonary nocardiosis in a patient who had a thrombus in the right arm vena cephalica and vena basilica of the right arm and was admitted with dyspnea, weakness, and fever without any immunosuppressive disease or treatment. The patient was hospitalized with a preliminary parapneumonic effusion, and responded to antibiotherapy. diagnosis of pneumonia and
