Abstract

The aim of our study was to determine the in-vitro effect of a nitric oxide donor, DETA-NO (Z-1-[N-(2-aminoethyl)-N-(2-ammonioethyl) amino] diazen-1-ium-1,2-diolate), to rapidly growing non-tuberculosis mycobacteria (NTM) isolates. Fourteen clinical strains were identified as NTM according to their growth periods, colony morphologies, negative niacin test and isoniazid (INH) resistance. Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values of these isolates for DETA-NO were assayed by broth microdilution method. Of all the strains which were highly resistant to INH (MICs vary from 16 to 1024 $\mu$g/ml), MIC values of 4 and 10 strains were found 1.25 mg/ml and 2.5 mg/ml, respectively for DETA-NO. These results indicated that, DETA-NO was effective to NTM strains which were resistant to most anti-tuberculous drugs.

NO'in (Z-1-[N-(2-aminoethyl)-N-(2-ammonioethyl) amino] diazen-1 -ium-1,2-diolate) in-vitro etkisinin araştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Bu sonuçlar, birçok antitüberküloz ilaca direnç gösteren TDM suşlarına karşı DETA-NO'in etkili olduğunu göstermektedir.
