Abstract

Ocular Features in Xeroderma Pigmentosum Xeroderma pigmentosum is a rare genetic disease characterised by defective DNA repair leading to clinical hypersensitivitiy to sun. The ocular features of 8 patients with Xeroderma pigmentosum were studied. General features included; males 62.5%, females 37.5%, parenteral consanguinity 60%, familiality 75%, onset of symptoms in first 4 years 50%. Ocular features included visual impairment 25%, photophobia 87.5%, madarosis 62.5%, lid freckles 100%, lower lid tumour 12.5%, chronic conjunctival congestion 100%, pterygium 50%, corneal opacification 25%. The clinical features of the cases are discussed.
