Abstract

The treatment of anisometropic amblyopia in children includes; correction of the refractive error with spectacles or contact lenses combined with occlusion therapy. It can be difficult to use these methods in cases of high anisometropia, because of poor patient compliance. Although refractive surgery has been successfully used in adults, the usage in children is still controversial. Refractive surgery can be used in anisometropic amblyopia children who are poor candidates for the adaptation of classic ampliopia management. Laser assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) surgery with topical anesthesia can also be performed safely and effectively in children cooperative enough to undergo the surgical procedure. In this study, we report the results of LASIK surgery using topical anesthesia in 7 and 14 years old children with anisometropic amblyopia in whom we wouldn’t achive adequate results by amblyopia treatment
