Abstract

Aim: To evaluate the efficacy of photodynamic therapy (PDT) with verteporfin in treatment of patients with chronic central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC). Material and Methods: The medical records of the patients treated with PDT due to chronic CSC were reviewed retrospectively. Eleven eyes of 11 patients were included in the study. None of the patients had previous focal laser treatment for CSC. All cases were evaluated by optical coherence tomography and fluorescein angiography with average follow-up of 10.3 months (range, 6-16 moths). Results: After treatment, complete resolution of serous exudation was achieved in 7 (64%) eyes, and 4 (36%) eyes were partially regressed. Visual acuity improved in 8 (%72) eyes, and remained unchanged 3 (28%) eyes. Foveal pigmentary changes associated with treatment were noted in 2 (18%) eyes. Conclusion: Photodynamic therapy with verteporfin seems to be effective in treatment of chronic CSC. Further prospective controlled trials in larger series are needed to confirm the safest and most effective treatment approaches.

Özet

Amaç: Kronik santral seröz koryoretinopatili (SSKR) hastalarda verteporfinle yapılan fotodinamik tedavinin (FDT) etkinliğini değerlendirmek. Gereç ve Yöntem: Kronik SSKR nedeniyle FDT uygulanan hastaların tıbbi kayıtları gözden geçirildi. On bir hastanın 11 gözü çalışmaya dâhil edildi.
