Abstract

Aim: To compare central corneal thickness (CCT) measurements in diabetic and non-diabetic subjects. Material and Method: We measured CCT of diabetic and non-diabetic patients, at similar age intervals, who admitted to Ağrı State Hospital Ophthalmology Clinic between April 2012 and June 2012. In the diabetic group, there were 116 patients and in the non-diabetic control group there were 92 patients. This was a prospective study. Results: Seventy five patients were male (36.1 %) and 133 patients were female (63.9%). Mean age was 53.77±9.01 years (32-80). CCT of diabetic patients was 532.13±32.44 μm (453- 615 μm) and CCT of non-diabetic patients was 520.90±30.95 μm (450-610 μm) (p=0.012). Conclusion: Consistent with the previous literature, we detected thicker central cornea measurements in diabetic patients when compared with non-diabetic patients. In addition, CCT increases when DM control deteriorates.

Özet

Amaç: Diyabetik ve diyabetik olmayan olguların merkezi kornea kalınlıklarının (MKK) karşılaştırılmasını hedefledik. Gereç ve Yöntem: Ağrı Devlet Hastanesi Göz Hastalıkları Polikliniği’ne Nisan 2012 - Haziran 2012 tarihleri arasında başvuran diyabetik (DM) olgular ile benzer yaş aralığından oluşan sağlıklı kontrol grubunun merkezi kornea kalınlıklarını karşılaştırdık. Diyabetik olmayan 92 kişiden oluşan sağlıklı kontrol grubu ile diyabeti olan 116 olgudan oluşan çalışma grubu oluşturuldu. Çalışmamız prospektif olarak tasarlandı. Bulgular: Çalışmaya katılan hastaların 75’i erkek (%36,1), 133’ü kadındı (%63,9).
