Abstract

Purpose: To compare the corneal thickness in normal-tension glaucoma (NTG) and primary open-angled glaucoma (POAG). Material and Methods: Corneal thickness of 56 eyes with NTG of 15 female and 13 male patients (mean age: 40.1±6.9) were compared with the once of 12 female and 16 male patients with POAG (mean age: 44.1±6.6) who had been examined between March 2002 and January 2003. Results: The mean central corneal thickness was 539.9±16.8µm (506-590µm) in the eyes with NTG, while it was 571.1±13.1µm (539-596µm) in the eyes with POAG (P<0.001). Conclusion: The central corneal thickness of the eyes with NTG is statistically significantly smaller than the ones with POAG.

Özet

Amaç: Normotensif glokom (NTG) ve primer açık açılı glokom (PAAG) olgularında, santral korneal kalınlığın karşılaştırılması. Gereç ve Yöntem: Mart 2002-Şubat 2003 arasında, SSK Ankara Göz Eğitim Hastanesi II. Göz Kliniğince takip edilen, 40.1±6.9 yaş ortalamalı 15 kadın-13 erkek hastanın NTG'lu 56 gözü ile, 44.1±6.6 yaş ortalamalı 12 kadın-16 erkek hastanın PAAG'lu 56 gözünün ultrasonik pakimetri ile yapılan korneal kalınlıkları karşılaştırıldı. Bulgular: Korneal kalınlık ölçümleri; NTG'lu gözlerde 539.9±16.8µm (506-590µm) bulunurken, PAAG'lu gözlerde 571.1±13.1µm (539-596µm) olarak saptandı (P<0.001). Sonuç: NTG'lu gözlerde korneal kalınlık, PAAG'lu gözlere oranla, istatistiksel olarak olarak anlamlı ölçüde ince bulundu.
