Results: Low amplitude and high latency values which were recorded in miyotic conditions were statistically significant when compared to the values included in mydriatic conditions. (for any angle: amplitude p<0.001 and latency p<0.001) Conclusion: A full mydriasis is mandatory for mfERG recordings and pupil diameters should be taken into consideration when evaluating the results

Abstract

Purpose: To evaluate the effect of mydriatic and miotic pupil conditions on P1 wave of multifocal electroretinogram (mfERG) with amplitude and latancy parameters. Materials and Methods: Multifocal ERG's of fifteen eyes of fifteen healthy and emmetropic subjects were recorded with Roland-Consult Retiscan system. Amplitudes and latencies belonging to mydriatic and miotic conditions were correlated on the basis of ring pattern analysis of multifocal electroretinogram. Multifocal electroretinogram recordings belonging to miyotic conditions were recorded one day after recordings belonging to midriatic conditions.
