Abstract

Aim: Comparison of keratometry, computerized korneal topography and autorefractometry measurements in keratoconus patients. Material and Method: Forty-nine eyes of 32 keratoconus patients were included in this retrospective study. Keratometry, computerized corneal topography and autorefractometry results were reviewed. K, Sim K and objective astigmatism values were compared. Astigmatizm was classified as regular, irregular and oblique. Results: Mean K1 and Sim K1 values were 48.2±0.6 (41.25-59.50)D, 49.8±0.7 (40.40- 62.51) D and difference between mean K1 and Sim K1 was statistically significiant (p<0.001). Mean K2 and SimK2 values were 53.6±0.9 (43.00-67.50)D, 54.0±0.8 (45.70-69,60)D (p=0.325). Mean K and SimK values were 50.8±0.7 (42.12-63.50)D, 51.9±0.7 (43.95-65.60)D and difference between mean K and Sim K was statistically significiant (p=0.004). Between three instrument measurements, there was no difference for type of astigmatism (p=0.68). Manifest astigmatism was found; 5.3±0.4 (1.25-13.25) with keratometry, 4.2±0.3 (1.21-14.01) with topography and 4.5±0.3 (-9.75 - -1.50) with autorefractometry. There was no significiant difference between these results however keratometry results tendency to have higher values (p=0.06). There was directly proportional relation between K1, K2, Sim K1 and Sim K2 values (p<0.001). Conclusions: K1 and mean K values were more flat than the values of Sim K1 and mean Sim K. But manifest astigmatism and type of astigmatism found similar for all instruments.
