Abstract

Aim: To compare sensitivities of Moorfield’s regression analysis (MRA) and glaucoma probability score (GPS) of Heidelberg retina tomograph (HRT) 3 in primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) patients with moderate visual field defect. Material and Method: 115 primary open angle glucoma (POAG) patients (56 male, 59 female) were enrolled to this prospective study. HRT 3 provides MRA and GPS outputs, which are classified into three categories as within normal limits (WNL), borderline and outside normal limits (ONL). Statistical analyses of difference between MRA and GPS outputs of POAG patients were determined using the Chi-square test and Cramer’s V coefficient. We also calculate kappa value to evaluate the agreement between the results of MRA and GPS. Results: The mean age and intraocular pressure of the patients were 63.95±9.26 years and 14.28±1.65 mmHg, respectively. Mean cup-disc ratio and optic disc size measured with HRT3 was 0.49±0.14 (0.21-0.77) and 2.01±0.25 mm2 (1.68-2.39), respectively. Global MRA outputs were classified as WNL, borderline and ONL in 37 (32.2%), 36 (31.3%) and 42 (36.5%) cases, respectively. Global GPS outputs were classified as WNL, borderline and ONL in 9 (7.8%), 30 (26.1%) and 76 (66.1%) cases, respectively. There was significant difference between MRA and GPS outputs in all sectors (p values were 0.01 or less). Sensitivities of all MRA and GPS sectors were between 14%-50% and 66%-73%, respectively. Kappa values of all sectors were lower than 0,27. Conclusion: The diagnostic performance of the GPS appears to be more sensitive than the MRA of HRT 3 in POAG patients with moderate visual field defect.
