Abstract

Behçet's disease is a chronic multisystemic disease characterized with occlusive vasculitis and recurrent attacks. Ocular involvement is frequently seen as uveitis which can be anterior, posterior or panuveitis. In this article, we aimed to present a 52 year old female patient diagnosed as Behçet uveitis and idiopathic intracranial hypertension without neuro-Behçet. The ophthalmologic examination of the patient; who was diagnosed as bilateral anterior uveitis and Behçet's disease revealed papilledema. Cranial and orbital Magnetic Resonance (MR) imaging showed no pathologic findings except minimal elevated levels of fluid around both optic nerves. The lumber puncture which was performed by the neurology clinic revealed; 260 H2O cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pressure, and normal levels of CSF glucose and protein. The patient was diagnosed as idiopathic intracranial hypertension. Idiopathic intracranial hypertension is a rare condition in Behçet's disease. Usually it develops secondary to central nervous system (CNS) vasculitis seen in neuro-Behçet. To our knowledge idiopathic intracranial hypertension in Behçet's disease without neuro-Behçet has been reported in a few patients in the literature.
