Abstract

Objectives: To report the outcomes of transcanalicular multidiode laser dacryocystorhinostomy (TC-DCR) operations for nasolacrimal duct obstruction in our clinic. Material and Method: We retrospectively evaluated the records of the patients who were treated for asolacrimal duct obstruction with tran- scanalicular multidiode laser dacryocystorhinostomy between 2011-2017 at Göznuru Eye Hospital. 119 eyes of 101 patients with chronic epiphora and a history of recurrent dacriocystit who had obstruction during lacrimal lavage were included in the study. Lacrimal duct was ir- rigated at first day,1 st , 2 nd , 3 rd and 4 th weeks post operatively. Patients were followed up at 3 rd , 6 th and 12 th months. A patent nasolacrimal lavage and patient satisfaction were defined by anatomical success and functional, respectively. Results: There were 85 (84,2%) females and 16 (15,8%) males with a mean age of 51 ± 16,3 years. The mean follow up time was 14 ± 1 months. Anatomical and functional success were 80% after primary surgery. Twenty-two patients (21.8%) were re-operated. There were no sta- tistically significant difference for sex and age between the multiple and single-operated patients (p=0,737, p=0,234). Anatomical success was 89% and function success was 86,5% after retreatment at the last examination. There were no complication during surgeries. Conclusion: Transcanalicular multidiode laser dacryocystorhinostomy is a safe and effective method with its low complication rates and high success rate at asolacrimal duct obstruction treatment. Appropriate patient selection and close follow-up increase the anatomical and functional success.

Bulgular: Hastaların 85 (%84,2)’i kadın, 16 (%15,8)’sı erkekti. Yaş ortalaması 51 ± 16,3 yıl idi. Olgular ortalama 14 ± 1 ay süreyle takip edildi. Ortalama operasyon süresi 25 ± 3 dakika idi. İlk ameliyat sonrası anatomik ve fonksiyonel başarı %80 idi. Yirmi iki hasta (%21,8) ye- niden opere edildiler. Reoperasyon ihtiyacı bulunan hastalarla tek operasyonda başarı elde edilen hastalar arasında cinsiyet ve yaş açısından anlamlı fark bulunmuyordu (p=0,737, p=0,234). İkincil ameliyat sonrası son muayenede %89 anatomik, %86,5 fonksiyonel başarı elde edildi. Operasyonlar esnasında komplikasyon gelişmedi. Sonuç: Transkanaliküler multidiod lazer dakriyosistorinostomi komplikasyon oranının düşük, başarı oranının yüksek oluşu ile nazolakri- mal kanal tıkanıklığı tedavisinde güvenilir ve etkin bir yöntemdir. Uygun hasta seçimi, ameliyat sonrasında sıkı takip anatomik ve fonksiyonel başarıyı arttırmaktadır.
