Abstract

Objective: To evaluate corneal topographic and clinical features of eyes with tilted disk. Material and Method: The files of patients with myopia / myopic astigmatism and unilateral or bilateral tilted disc with the request of re- fractive surgery between January 2017 and June 2017 were retrospectively reviewed. Patients with a tilted disc were identified as group 1, and group 2 with a similar spherical component accompanying healthy optic disc appearance in both eyes. Preoperative corneal topograp, best cor- rected visual acuity, spherical equivalent values, axial length measurements, corneal wavefront assessments and pupillometry results were com- pared between groups. Results: Seventeen eyes of 12 patients in Group 1 and 12 eyes of 12 patients in Group 2 were included in the study. The mean age and gen- der distribution were similar in both groups (p:0.926, p:0.292). Spherical equivalents were -6.4 ± 3.2 D in group 1 and -2.9 ± 1.2 D in group 2 (p: 0.047). Cylindirical power was higher in group 1 (p:0.013). BCVA was lower in group 1 (p>0.001). Corneal topographic evaluation revealed no difference between the 2 groups in terms of keratometry values, central corneal thickness, corneal astigmatism value, visible horizontal iris diameter, and superior inferior quadrant (D) in the 5 mm area in the sagittal curvature map. While pupillometry values were similar in both groups under scotopic, mesopic and photopic conditions, the corneal wavefront evaluation revealed that root mean square value was signifi- cantly higher in tilted disc eyes than healthy eyes (p:0.002). Anterior and posterior elevation values were again higher in group 1 (p: 0.042, 0.019, respectively). Conclusion: Morphogenetic factors that play a role in tilted disc development may also affect corneal development.
