Abstract

In this study, samples were taken every month between the periods July 1997 to June 1998 from six selected stations in this region from the source of the Nilüfer stream to the point where it joins the Marmara Sea. Temperature (°C), pH value, Total Dissolved Substance (TDS), Conductivity (EC), Dissolved Oxygene (DO) and Biochemical Oxygene Demand $(BOD_5)$ values of the samples were measured. The values showed monthly fluctuations in all stations. A total of 156 diatom taxa were identified; 9 species belonging to Centrales; 147 to Pennales. The taxa belonging to genera Achnanthidium, Cocconeis, Cymbella, Encyonema, Gomphoneis, Gomphonema, Navicula and Nitzschia were abundant in epipelic diatom flora. Cocconeis placentula Ehrenb. var. placentula (Achnanthaceae), Navicula cryptocephala var. veneta (Kütz.) Rabenh. (Naviculaceae), Nitzschia palea (Kütz.) W. Sm. (Nitzschiaceae), N. thermalis Kütz. (Nitzschiaceae) and Achnanthidium minutissimum (Kütz.) Czar (Achnanthaceae) were dominant taxa throughout the year. Epipelic diatom flora, population density and the degree of abundance of species were determined.

Özet

Çalışmamızda Nilüfer çayını besleyen kaynakdan başlayarak Marmara denizine dö-küldüğü bölge üzerinden seçilen 6 istasyondan Ağustos 1997-Haziran 1998 tarihleri arasın-da her ay periyodik olarak su örneği alınmıştır. Alınan örneklerde sıcaklık (C°), pH, total çözünmüş madde (TDS), iletkenlik (EC), çözünmüş oksijen (DO) ve biyokimyasal oksijen İhtiyacı $(BOD_5)$ ölçülmüştür. Değerlerin tüm istasyonlarda aylara göre değişimler gösterdiği tespit edilmiştir. Toplam 156 diyatome taksonu tanımlanmış olup 9 taksonun Centrales ordosuna, 147 taksonun Pennales ordosuna ait olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Achnanthidium, Cocconeis, Cymbella, Enyconema, Gomphoneis, Gomphonema, Navicula ve Nitzschia cinslerine ait taksonların epipelik diyatome florasında yaygın oldukları tespit edilmiştir. Cocconeis placentula Ehrenb. var. placentula (Achnanthaceae), N. cryptocephala var. veneta (Kütz.) Rabenh. (Naviculaceae), Nitzschia palea (Kütz.) W. Sm. (Nitzschiaceae), N. thernıalis Kütz. (Nitzschiaceae) ve Achnanthidium minutissimum (Kütz.) Czar (AchnanthaceaeYun yıl boyunca dominant olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Epipelik diyatome florası, populasyon yoğunlukları ve türlerin bolluk dereceleri saptanmıştır.
