Abstract
In order to determine the prevalance of HBsAg in the policemen, totally 86 serum specimens were tested for HBsAg ,as well as antiHBs and antiHBc antibodies. Ten of them (11.7 %) were HBsAg positive, 16 (18.6% ) had positive anti HBc IgG and antiHBs , 60 (69.7%) were sensitive to HBV. This high HBsAg seropositivity may be due to their job and we concluded that there is need for education and immunization programmes in this population.

Polisler arasında HBsAg taşıyıcılığını saptamak amacıyla toplam 86 olgudan serum örnekleri alınarak HBsAg, anti HBcIgG ve anti HBs araştırılmıştır. Olguların % 11.7si HBsAg pozitif, % 18.6'sı HBV infeksiyonunu geçirerek bağışıklık kazanmış vè % 69.7'si ise infeksiyona duyarlı bulunmuştur. Yüksek HBsAg pozitifliğinin meslekle ilişkili olabileceği düşünülerek polislerin de bir risk grubu olarak değerlendirilmesi gerektiği ve bu nedenle bu grubun üyelerine eğitim ve aşılama programı uygulanmasının uygun olacağı sonucuna varılmıştır.
