Abstract

This study aims to develop a scale that will measure the attitudes of 6th, 7thand 8th grade students towards scientific process in the scope of life sciences course. In the literature, many studies focus on developing scales of attitudes towards science and science course. This study differs from others by aiming to measure the attitudes towards using the scientific process steps rather than science itself. Items of the scale were prepared by considering expert opinions. The scale was administered to 321 students, from 6th, 7th and 8th grades in three different secondary schools. In accordance with the factor analysis performed, a 33 item, five-point likert-type scale was developed. The Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO), Barlett test, Cronbach alpha and testretest reliability values of the scale was found as .94, 4386.47, .94 and .91 respectively.
